I was born in 1981. An era of possibility and enthusiasm. I grew up with cartoons such as Transformers, Odyssey 31 and Mysterious Cities of Gold. Their strong characters and hectic adventures filled every second I was awake. Fantasy films such as Star Wars, Labyrinth, Star Trek and The Dark Crystal guided me, before I could even understand the concepts, toward telling stories that would inspire.
A quick way to exercise my imagination and creativity was to tell a story with a single image. Drawing became my passion. I've been doing it for a long time, doodling, sketching, inking, painting, digitally and traditionally. However, as often happens to dreams the real world impinged. I felt that there was no future in art, it wasn't a 'real' job. So I put away my passion and tried to become something I'm not. Thankfully, I failed.
The unknown is as much a challenge as it is a thrill. Consistent inspired work on something I love is better than consistent resigned work on something I don't care about.
Surprising, fun, tense, tragic, uplifting, scary, ridiculous, brave, honest, serious, characterful, humorous stories.
Narratives are how we learn to be in and around others and how we know ourselves. Our heroes and villains spring from childhood memories of stories so real you could touch the characters. The very concepts of good and bad are personified and ingrained at a young age.
I am going to tell stories that transcend age, religion and race, weaving characters that you believe in, with situations that inspire, intrigue and terrify.
I’ve distilled all the most interesting and informative sites that I like just for you. For obvious reasons I don’t know your age and some of these sites, art ones mainly, may contain content not suitable for younger minds. If you are an adult however, enjoy, as a lot of the links are entertaining and educational... because that’s fun... yes it is... really!
